Hello all,

I have a MX6000 and the CCP software. I have watched some training and have been messing with the remote and got a good hang of it, but I have one question so far.

Say I setup my activity to turn on my projector, oppo, av, etc... I got that up and running, now say I go back to the activities page and choose play Xbox, how do I ensure the Oppo gets turned off, do I have to program a marco when I switch activities to check if a device is on?

Yes you would program a macro. If you have discrete power commands for all your gear it's easy, just send a power off command to the stuff you want off. If you only have power toggles, then you want use variables to track the power state. You're also going to want to use variables so switching between activities can be done faster if say the projector is already on.

Watch Xbox

if (Projector on)
Power up Xbox
Switch AVR to Xbox input
bluray power off (discrete code)
Jump to Xbox page

else (projector is off)
power up Projector
wait 25 seconds
power up AVR
power up Xbox
Switch to AVR Xbox input
variable projector power=true
bluray power off (discrete code)
jump to Xbox page

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense.

I think I would only need the variable for the projector since I don't want that to tie up my remote for 25 seconds if it doesn't need it, the rest of my equipment doesn't matter if I send another code to turn off if its already off. Pry less to get out of sync if I keep the variables to a min....

As long as the other equipment uses discrete power commands you're fine.

Some others may disagree with me, but I tend to leave equipment on until a total shutdown. I do use variables to track what is on, but for example, if I watch a movie on the BR Player then switch back to DirecTV, I leave the BR player on.

The reason I do this is because I may only need to switch to DirecTV for a couple of minutes to see a score and this way I don't need to go through the BR bootup again.

It works for me.

Here is another issue I am having which I have found a solution for but not sure if its the best implementation.

I have 6 activities on my main screen.

Play Blu-Ray
Watch Dish
Go to devices
etc
etc

2nd page I have my devices
Oppo
Dish
Xbox

Say I press play blu-ray and when I get in I realize I need to change something in one of my devices, well I setup a navigate back which will get me to my main screen I can then hit the devices button and go into each device and I can eventually navigate back to the main screen of my activities but I can't get back into the activity I was using unless I start it again.

My work around was using an IF statement that if held longer than say 1 sec it would just skip the start-up and go back into the activity page. That way it doesnt try to power on the devices or switch inputs, etc...

Thoughts?

Twism,

In regards to this problem. I approach it like this.......
I hide my device pages from the family.
I've set my main button to have multiple functions. Press it once and it goes back to the main activity page. Hold it for 3 secs. or more and it takes you to the device page. Pick your device, make all necessary tweaks and then navigate your way back to the activity page you started at.
No need to rerun a macro and it keeps the family from [email protected]#king things up!!!!
It works great.....although I rarely use the feature because my macros also do most of my tweaking for me during the launch of each activity!

The fact CCP allows for buttons to have multiple-functions is a great tool.
Try it!

I also tend to create buttons I use often in my individual activities!
Like a toggle night mode button for example.
Less button presses to get things accomplished.

It also helps to describe more about your set-up in the initial post!
What controller are you using and how are you controlling everything??

I leave things on.
I track power for the display to allow for faster source switching.
Only on system off does OFF go to everything.
