Just recently upgraded to DVR. Looking on the back of the STB, there's a 1/8" input jack titled "IR REMOTE INPUT." I'm assuming this is for an emitter, which I am thinking might be able to link to my MSC-400.

Has anyone done this? If so, are you running a mono-to-mono jack or mono-to-stereo jack? Just trying to make sure I buy the right cable. Thanks in advance!

I have tried it to no avail. The connection should be a mono jack.

Let me know if you get it to work.

Thank you,
Damon

The Motorola boxes here (SHAW cable) all have the same jack but it's a stereo input for their own IR extender that comes with all the HD boxes.

I tried a mono-to-stereo but that hasn't worked either. Has anyone gotten these to work?

Mark,
I wouldn't be surprised if that port isn't propiertary. My Pioneer bluray player has one on the back, but it only works with other Pioneer equipment. Sigh. You'd think by now most CECs would have dropped the whole propriatary connections schtick. Propriatary IR ? I don't see the economic leg-up it would give a company against their competitors. One those little mysteries in this business/hobby.

The Pioneer can actually be controlled with a Xantech 794-10. As far as I know, there is no such device for Motorola boxes.

Yep, I just attached a MRF emitter to the Motorola IR Extender. It's a voltage thing...
