Is there a way to send an Off only command to a AT&T Uverse receiver? This would make my Macroing much easier since all my other components can be turned on and off this way.

This is the third thread you've started this afternoon.   Do a search.  This forum is a wealth of info, you just have to look for it.

First of all, you assume that I didn't search this topic, and you couldn't be more WRONG...

Second, I didn't know it was against the rules to start a thread if you have a different question than the one you asked earlier on a completely different function of your remote.

Third, if you could refrain from chastising me publicly in my threads, I'd appreciate it.

I beleive that CCP has all of the U-Verse commands, it works for me. if not, then try codes for the STB. U-Verse uses Motorola or Cisco (Scientific Atlanta)

Yea I see all the commands in the data base... It has 2 power commands, both labeled "Power", and both perform the same action which is to turn the unit ON and OFF. But, all my other components have separate power buttons... one for ON and one for OFF.

The problem is that when I set up a Macro and execute the power button for Uverse, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt, and I would need to see about putting a repeat mod on that command, but if I do that, then it could turn it ON then back OFF again. It's cumbersome. I'll try those other codes you suggested and hopefully I can find what I'm looking for.

If anyone else has anything to add... please do so, and thanks again in advance!

I don't think there is a discrete power for the Uverse box, just a toggle.

The easiest thing to do would be to just leave it on all the time.

Other than that you can use variables to track the power state but I have found that others find this frustrating when the variables get out of whack.

I've not dealt with a U-verse box, but I assume you can't turn the box on by entering a number command?

HAHA finally someone actually uses the word "discreet" in this thread. His search would probably have been a little more productive had he not been trying to search for "always on" and "always off" for The U-verse.

Use SELECT for on. Use SELECT+POWER for off.

That's "discrete". HAHA on you.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

wow thanks!!! now this begs the question, how do i program a double press? (select+power)

EDIT: I've been trying (select+power) with the factory remote, and it doesnt seem to discreat off. Am I hitting the buttons wrong? I hold down select then press power, that didnt work, then i pressed both at the same time, still no luck.

This just became silly.
Instead of asking me why my price is high ask the other guys why they are low.

I don't have a Uverse box so I cannot say for sure but I suspect they mean to send "select", then pause, the send "power". Essentially, select does nothing if the box is already on and turns it on if it is off. When the box is on "power" shuts it off.

That being said, I would agree with others that you will be much happier if you just leave it on.
