Always used standalone editors and converted late to CCP.
Had a client with a 980 that I programmed in CCP. I wanted to bring an existing MX900 into their file (someone else did it with toggle power macros!) but couldn't figure it out.
I started by adding a new room to the existing file that had the MX980 in it. Then I tried adding a 900 and uploaded the file from the remote. It seemed to insist on a new file and new file name for the 900. I had to finish so I did the 900 in the second file. I then imported the 900 from the second file. Did I have to work that hard to do it?

I believe you can only import .ccp files, so yes, you had to convert the existing 900 file to a .ccp file to import it.

But with a ccp file already open, a 900 could not be uploaded directly into that existing ccp file. Normal??

You can use an existing MX-900 file to add an MX-900 to a CCP file. The key is to remember that you're not simply importing the MX-900, but rather you are adding a new MX-900 to a whole-house file, using the existing MX-900 file as a basis for that addition. Here are the steps: - In the House Designer window in CCP, right-click the room where you want to add an MX-900 and click Add Model.
- In the System Configuration window, click MX-900 in the 3. Remotes section.
- Click Add.
- In the Option section of the Model Property window, click Existing.
- Click Browse.
- In the Open window, choose MX-900 files in the Files of Type drop-down menu.
- Browse to the MX-900 file you want to import, then click Open.
I hope this helps you out! Best regards, Dale

If I have an older MX900 in the field to bring into CCP, I found that it almost never comes in first try. I now automatically open it in the last MX900 editor I have, save it, close the standalone editor, and it will then come right into CCP.

So, I wanted to open an older MX-900 file from stand alone editor in CCP. I followed the instructions I found elsewhere in the forum, where you open a new file CCP with nothing in it, then add an MX-900, then browse to the folder where the old MX-900 file is located and choose .mxg from the drop down box for "file type". Only problem is, the .mxg files refuse to show up. I can browse to the very same folder using "my computer" and the files show fine. Under properties they show they are .mxg files, so what am I doing wrong?

Well, one thing you're doing "wrong" is posting the same question twice in the same forum. As if posting it twice will get your answer quicker, like pushing the elevator button repeatedly makes the elevator come faster.
But to answer your question, when browsing for the file to import, there is a "file type" drop down. Default is CCP but .MXG will show up as a file type in the drop down...assuming you have chosen an MX900 to start with. Once you chose mxg, you should be able to browse and see the file you're looking for.
