Hello. I programed a MX 950 for a customer a few years back. I have since then gotten a new laptop and reformatted the old one and did not back of those certain files.
This week he just got a few new TV's to replace the old ones. He is still keeping all of the original equipment besides the TV's. When i try to upload remote to pc i get a error message. "unable to connect [EX-FI]."
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software a few times already. I need the current remote programing due to the fact i have alot of Custom installs. Any help would be great.

What OS are you using? I don't think the 950 editor works on Vista.

KC is correct - the MX-950 can be programmed on Vista, but not synched. The 950 relies exclusively on Activesync, which is not available through Vista.

are you serious? you can't program URC remotes on vista? is this a joke?

have a client who i installed URC for years back, and now obviously i have a vista machine.

i received the rapi.dll error, and then installed Windows Device Center which is apparently the vista equiv. of activesync.

then i get this error message.

get your s*** together, URC. this is just something to add to the list of why people dont use you anymore.

It only applies to the MX-950. All other remotes are programmable on Vista or Win 7, although the MX-3000 does take a bit of work.

I AM In the same Boat! I have a old Mx 950, I have used it until it broke, It is still functioning beside missing buttons and broken lcd screen. We know where everything is , so we can operate it blind. So I pulled a new ( was in a elderly clients house ) this thing was clean and functions better than the one I have, and it's FREE. But now I have W7 and I installed the virtual XP machine, I got it to sync, Almost ready to connect and I get " Unable to connect [EX-FI]" So NOW WHAT is it? I was almost ready to communicate with this remote and yet another road block. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks for the help.

Is activesync installed on your XP Virtual machine? Also, you may have to manually install the USB drivers.
