hi
my setup is as follows:
HT Components: Denon 4806CI(Receiver), 2930CI(DVD player), 1940CI(DVD player), TivHD, Panasonic PLasma, Nuvo Essentia, MSC-400, MX-5000 and MX-6000 and MX-900

MSC-400 an MX-6000 and MX-900 were programmed using the CCP. MX-900 by the standalone software module. the Denons and the Plasma are controlled by RS-232

STatus and issues I am facing are as follows:
I have individual commands for RS232 devices programmed on the MSC-400 and invoked on the MX-6000 controls via hot function. The IR commands reside in the MX-6000 because of available library and ease of use.

The Nuvo works perfectly
Plasma works perfectly
I realized that Macros cannot be programmed at the MSC-400 level because each Macro can only be executed on a single port. So, I have all the Macros programmed on the MX-5000 interface. A Macro may consist of multiple commands, some RS-232 and some IR which are sent to the MSC-400 via RF
MSC-400 executes these commands.

Issues I am facing are:
The RS232 devices work well when I send a single RS232 command. However when I send a bunch of RS232 commands via a Macro, some appear to work and some do not. Example: A Macro may consist of: Turning on the 4806CI, a delay of 3seconds, changing the input to DBS on the 4806CI, turn on the plasma TV, jump to Guide on the Tivo unit. When I execute this Macro, the receiver does not start but the TV switches on. If I execute the same Macro immediately, once again, the receiver starts.

Does anyone have an idea why this would be so?

The 1940CI works very well but the 2930(bought only last week) does not respond to RS-232 commands at all. I am assuming the RS-232 port is defective but also wonder if I could make certain or if there could be any other possible reason. I love the 2930CI and the price I paid for it ($165) and might just keep it even with the defective port and use IR (this is a $800 DVD player in its heydays and made of some great components)

thank you for your suggestions in advance.

-Bob
