No Sticker, I probably took it off myself to make the batteries fit. They are snug.

If you are in a predicament because of this new policy, email me.

My mx-700 sn appears to be in the form:

A?#.#.#AA#

where A is a letter, # is a digit, ? is either the digit
0 or the letter O, and the . is what appears to be a decimal
point.

What would I enter? The registeration form permits only
six characters in each space so the example sunstar gives
with 7 characters can not be right.

I have an MX-700 (Ver.-1 about 3yrs old) and the serial # is in the format 1202 Axxxxx and it told me that it's an invalid MX-700 number.

I think the only thing that's invalid is URC's policy.

I have an odd issue with the new software. I can install the Complete Control Suite software, but if I try to open the MX850 editor I get an error that it's not compatible with the Control Suite and that I should upgrade it externally, then re-open.

But when I close out of Control Suite and just open the MX850 editor, every attempt to update simply fails.

I was under the impression that dealers would just get new software. Apparantly the new software relies on "older" versions of the software to run. How can I solve this issue.

Also, when I install on a PC that never had the MX850 software to begin with, then the MX850 button in the Control Suite is greyed out and I can't use the editor. Since I now cannot download a standalone version of the MX850 software, am I to assume that this PC will simply never be able to run MX850 editor?

Could URC simply make a master download available to dealers with all the necessary software embedded?

I have a 1st Generation MX-3000, no serial # sticker under the battery. How do I go about downloading the new Complete Control software for this device?

I have owned an MX3000 for over two years and I am amazed the company still have no training available to programe this remote. The handbook sucks and is over two years old. The video training on the MX850 is great why can't someone provide the same for the MX3000 after all this time?

Can anyone tell me what the new software is like? I have an MX-850 on order and am VERY dissapointed in the "No Live Update" software change. I've seen the old software, but need to decide if I still want the remote or not. The "update" was one of the features that convinced me to pay more for an MX-850. Is the value still there without this feature?

Thanks!

The new software is exactly the same as the old software, it just supports the "Live Update" feature. If you're buying from an authorized dealer, you'll get the updateable software. Live Update with the MX-850 and below will essentially only be for additions to the IR database as there is not much more that can be added (other than hex code entry in the UB). The MX-700/800/850 hardware restricts the addition of any features found in the MX-900 and above.

Re: The Registration page:

Some people were stating they went to register, clicked submit and didn't see anything. If you have any form of pop-up blocking the download won't appear so I suggest (and URC has modified their email as well) to hold CTRL when clicking submit. I believe they've also added a "if download does not work, click here" type link to that second page.

---------------------------------------------

Now onto my question. So I've contacted BlueDo thricely and haven't gotten any form of response. So I emailed URC to see what's up and they sent me the page linked in the OP, so i opened the remote, registered away, and got MX850CS.zip and what not. I instlal the software expecting to happily be able to have Live Update again, and now it's not even in the help menu at all!? What gives?

Just thought I'd update people. After some forum searching here I discovered a thread that said I should email [email protected], so I tried that and got a very prompt reply from David.

All is good again, and proof that I needed live-update, the software updated itself as did the fimware.

I too don't have a serial # in the battery compartment. I bought my device about 2 years ago. I didn't go for the cheapest price, but did not verify if the vendor was an authorized dealer either - should I have?. Not until I got a new computer and needed to install the software did I get bit by the new URC policy. I completely understand their need to manage their disribution channels but it should not be at the cost of alieanating the final consumers of their product - the enduser.

What do people recommend in my situation - I have new devices I need to add to my setup and don't have the software available for install. I don't care about support - haven't used it since I bought the product, just want a functional device.

Thanks,

Carl

Model numbers of your new devices??
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I received my device as a gift for my 50th brithday (going almost 3 years ago) and I do not know if the vendor where the unit was bought was an authorized dealer or not, as a matter of fact, I did not even know such restriction existed (and why should I?!) until my software stopped working. Yes, my device has a valid serial # in the battery compartment as I was able to register it at URC's website to download a refreshed IR database. I thought the process a bit strange for I did not need/want to download the software per se, all I wanted was to get the newer IR database (Oct 9, 2006 Ver 1.12.270). This past Friday, after "re-installing" the downloaded version I ended up having the same IR database version that I had before (July 25, 2006 Ver 1.12.267). Today, I contacted TS to let them know that the "software" that I had downloaded on Friday did not have the newer IR database and how I would go about to get it; I was told to contact whom I bought (I got it as a gift!) the unit from to get the refreshed IR database for it is only for custom installers or "use the learn function". >>> Does anyone know how to get a copy of an IR database refresh (such as the OCT9 update) or am I screwed by URC? Thx <<<

This is flat out BS. Nothing Stopped working. The Live Update feature may have been disabled but you make it sound as everything stopped which is a flat out lie.
