Hi,
I recently obtained the software for an MX-980 remote I acquired and I had a few questions about the capabilities of the MX-980 software. Within about 45 minutes of firing up the software, I had everything being controlled the way I wanted to have it controlled in a basic manner. However, I was hoping to be able to adjust some of the screen layouts.
As an example...All of my devices are set to use the Alpha v1 Skin. When creating the button layouts in the button layout editor and selecting the Alpha v1 Skin, Blank Skin, it creates 6 pages of buttons all with different backgrounds and designs. If I leave the layout as input by the button layout editor and import a device from the IR database, all the pages are correctly populated with the various buttons. However, I would prefer that all 6 pages of a device's pages use the same background as Page 1. I have attempted several ways of getting this accomplished but I cannot figure out how the software determines a unique page. My first attempt was to use the button layout creator to create the pages of the device. I then delected Pages 2-6 and copied and pasted Page 1 5 times. I renamed the pages to be Page 1-6 as it was before. When I imported from the device library, all pages of the device had the same content. I then tried again in a similiar manner, except before importing, I renamed the buttons on the subsequent pages, still same result. I then simply tried to change the background image of Pages 2-6 after the import was complete, however, I could not find the background image files anywhere in the directory structure. Is there a method of doing this that doesn't require that I manually configure each button on the pages on the devices?
In addition, I was wondering if there was a way to call another macro from within a macro? I understand and have used the import macro tool, however, that appears to simply copy the steps of the macro from one place to another. If its possible, I would prefer to call the macro, so that I would have only 1 place to change if I needed to change the steps. Is this possible?
Lastly, what does the Toggle function in a macro do?

Re: changing backgrounds, take a look at this post (courtesy of Darnitol): [Link: remotecentral.com]Macros can be nested. Just select the button that the macro's on as one of the steps to be included in the new macro. With a Toggle macro, you add a series of commands and with each button push, it toggles between those commands. This is sometimes used with receivers or preamps that have a ton of soundfields, but you just want to use three or four and don't want to take up screen space with individual buttons for them. Mike

Mike you are the man! I had completely forgotten about that feature...haven't used it since training. I actually have a need for that tomorrow!

Hi Mike,
Basically you just setup an "Alias" to the button that is already a macro as opposed to an IR command. That was simple and I should have figured that out. Thanks!
Toggle isn't very helpful for my setup but good to know what its for.

One more quick question.
Is there any way to setup a set of commands that you have learned into the remote to be a "device" that is listed as a part of the database. I am aware of the import function allowing you to import a device from a seperate rcf file, but I was curious if there was a method to add it to the database in some way.
