I was attempting to help a friend setup his MX900 with his 5 DirecTV boxes that are all in the same room along with 4 32 inch Toshiba TVs and a 72 inch Toshiba. We are running into a couple issues. 1. There is no DirecTV choice in the programming software that will work his DirecTV HR20 box. We even tried the learning function on the remote to have it learn the remote for the HR20 and it would not do it. Just to test we got it to learn a button from one of his other DirecTV remotes and from his TV remote. (I'm wondering now if the DirecTV remote might be set as RF right now, I'll have to look at that later.) 2. He has 5 Toshiba TVs that all use the same remote. When we tell the HD TV choice from the programming software to use the code for his TV, we download it to the remote and it works all of them at once. Any ideas how to separate control. 3. There is the same issue for the other DirecTV boxes as well. He has 4 H20 DirecTV boxes as well as the 1 HR20, but we don't know of a way to program each of those separately. From what I've read on the DirecTV web site we are going to need some type of RF basestation or something. Suggestions?

One sat box for each TV, right? You're going to need at least 1 MRF-350 basestation and 5 double-headed flashers so you can route ir to each tv/sat box separately.
Codes for the HR20 are the same as every other DirecTV receiver in the database ... no need to learn them. If the remote is set to RF, the box is, too, so it won't work with IR codes until you change it back.

Are all the boxes HR20's. If so, then go to Menu>Parental, Fav's & Setup>System Setup>Remote>Advanced Setups.
That will allow you to use the expanded IR codebase of up to 8 IR codes. So far, there are only two codes in the URC database, so you will have to learn any additional codesets.
You will have to put the remote into each codeset in order to be able to use it and the remote must be a new model. The RC24 and lower only have 4 codesets built in.
This will eliminate the need for the MRF-350 and allow each box to be controlled independently by IR.

Only 1 is an HR20, the others are H20s. We are probably going to go the MRF-350 route. Thanks for the suggestions.

The additional codes have not been updated in the H2x series, so and MRF-350 is a good choice.
