Hi everyone,

I'm trying to import some discrete power on/off codes for a Philips LCD TV since they weren't in the DB already.

However, following the instructions below (which I found on AVS) I can't get the hex code dragged from the hex editor to my button - the "yellow box" never appears when I try drag the little bullseye icon around.

1) open the browser tab in the MX-810 wizard
2) highlight the hex code text in your source document (right click and select copy)
3) move the cursor to the Hex Editor window (lower left) and right click and select paste (you should now see a copy of the hex code in the Hex Editor window)
4) select either the Devices or Activities category (upper right)
5) double click on the desired icon in the Panel View window
6) use the < and > buttons to get to the desired page where you want the new code to go
7) select the desired target button (make sure that the target button name shows up in the "Button Caption" window
8) click on the "Drag" icon in the Hex Editor window and drag the resulting code into the Action List window (lower right corner). You should see a little yellow box appear as you do the drag operation.
9) you should now see "Hex Data" show up in the Action List window under the "Action" column for that selected button. If you see a "Step" 1 and 2 now defined, you may need to select and delete the original code that was already defined for that button (unless you want the new code to be "added" to the existing code instead of just replacing it)

In case you can spot something, here's a screenshot of my browser as I'm trying to do the dragging (and failing):

Is the hex not in the right format or something? Do I have to convert it to something like a CCF file first?

Any help appreciated! This is the only TOAD device left to change to discrete codes in my basement A/V system, so I will really appreciate any help!

OK, so through trial and error I've discovered that it's a data format issue. The code above is apparently not usable because it has only 6 hex codes in the entire sequence. The drag button becomes enabled only when there are at least 10 codes in the sequence.

Luckily I have alternate codes for the same brand which are much longer and are draggable - hopefully they work!

BTW, I did also create a CCF file with the code above using ProntoEdit, and after importing it, the same thing was observed: the shorter (sub-10) codes were not draggable, but the longer ones were.

That's an RC5 format, which won't work with the UB. The hex code must start with 0000.

Yeah, that's RC5 shortform for the Pronto. I believe you can use Makehex to generate Marantz hex codes in 0000 format.

However, RC5 codes are toggle bits and you might be best served by trying to find database versions, if they exist.

Thanks all - yes, I got the longer codes from this site and they work a treat now. Awesome!
