How do I change the radio frequency ID# on the MX-810? My installer left my MRF-260 set at zero and I am getting a lot of interference (channels changing, devices turning off and on, etc.). It appears easy enough to change the ID# on the base station, but I am not sure how to change the RF ID# on the remote. I just downloaded the software on my computer, but I do not have any programs saved since the installer programmed the activities into the remote for me from his laptop before we moved in. Is it possible to change the remote RF ID# without having to reprogram the entire remote since my remote already has all my activities programmed and they work well, aside from the occasional random interference as I described above.

you will need for your programmer to email you your programming file, and then you can change the rf (or he could change the rf id before emailing it to you), and then you can reload the updated programming to your remote...

...or he should come out at no charge since he screwed up in the first place as no programmer should have ever set the RF to ID 0 for a customer.

Make sure he gives you a copy of your program for your remote too. You will need to for any future upgrades or if your remote needs to be serviced etc.

You don't change it on the remote, you change it in the software in the RF settings which your installer will have to do. He should cover this oversight, as the 0 ID on the MRF base station is really just used for finding interference in the initial setup when going to RF. The unit will function but it's strongly recommended to use a proper provided channel ID.

I concur with BonesSK, ask for a copy of the file for your MX-810, this file will have the suffix of .wzr, and you have the right to maintain a copy. Plus, more importantly, this particular remote does not UPLOAD, meaning he's the only one that can edit your file without having to start from scratch. However, our company does not advice clients to mess with remotes, any changes done by the client, is the clients responsibility. Most of us have been trained for this line of remotes and would never have made that boo boo, but get a copy of this MX-810 .wzr file immediately! He could email it to you as it's not a large file at all, probably around 200kb depending on your system.

Call your Installer. He will reprogram it. (or should) But as far as giving you any files or software, SORRY, Thats a no no. Custom Installers make thier money on upgrades and programming. If you need to (after he fixes this booboo) upgrade or update call him and pay him. This is our buisness, what we do.

Some installers will indeed leave you with the URC programming...it's not all that advanced and involved as with Crestron or AMX so the intellectual property reason does not hold up nearly as much. We do occasionally leave the URC file if the client insists upon it. We leave a copy on a disc or thumb drive along with a notice that client changes to programming that disable or render the unit unusable or not up to the original design standard will incur an additional service call fee...in our case 120/hour including travel time. In my experience most clients want the program merely for peace of mind and not to tinker with it...can't say I blame them with the way companies are dropping like flies lately. And hey, if they mess it up, we revert back to original and get billable hours...works out OK if you ask me :-)
