I want to use an MX-450 with an MRF-260 or MRF-250 base to send out IR commands to a Bose Lifestyle 28 receiver that is hidden in a cabinet.

I don't believe you can learn directly from the Bose remote. It's been awhile since this has come up, but as I recall, you have to learn by sending a signal from the remote, then learning from an IR emitter connected to the Bose.
Just use the Bose commands that are in the remote's database.
