I just got a new receiver and had to reprogram my MX-810 to accommodate it. However I noticed some slightly different behavior since doing a recent live update - it appears that the remote now tries to keep track of the power of each device. Is that true?
Before reprogramming them, all my activity macros used to assume all devices were off and would cycle through each of their discrete Power On commands. However since doing the update it seems that the remote tries to be smarter.
The old behavior would mean that my activity macros would always send the discrete "power on" commands to all of my devices (none of them are TOAD, thankfully). The nice side benefit of that is that I could always tell my wife that if an activity didn't seem to work properly (and the TV didn't turn on, for instance) then she just had to hit the same activity button again.
The new behavior is totally different. The remote will only send the "Power On" commands for the *first* activity macro hit, and will not send them again for devices it "thinks" are on. It will remain this way until after I hit the main Power Off button and it thinks everything is powered off. Since I don't have a power-sensing device like an MSC-400, it can get quickly out of sync with the device's real power status.
I much preferred the old behavior where it would send the discrete power on commands all the time. Is there any way for me to get that back without dragging the discrete codes into each macro (which will create a lot of duplication)? Was this something that came with a recent update or was it just something I accidentally incorporated with my recent reprogramming?
Thanks!

I think that you will have to use the universal browser to add the discrete power on commands to the macros.
I have found that I do not let the 810 wizard to program any macros. The first thing I do is delete all the wizard commands in the universal browser except the final page jump. I think drag all the discrete commands in for each activity.
This takes more time but at least I am sure that the remote is sending out only the commands that I want for each activity or macro.
Ah....the joy of programming an MX-810.

If you are going to do the job...why not do it the right way? www.fairfaxavi.com |

Thanks Dave - I had a hunch that I'd end up doing that. Oh well, it's not the end of the world I guess :)
