The MSC-400 only enables IR emitter ports 7-12 with a primary ID in the range 10-1F(hex), and the MX-880 editor even states the additional IR ports are enabled when a receiver's ID is in that range. Unfortunately I can't figure out how to set that ID, as when you create a new Receiver in the MX-880 RF Setup only the ID's of 00-0F are available. How do I set the ID needed when creating the new MX-880 receiver? (Is this where the MSC Secondary ID comes into play? I.e., ports 1-6 for the secondary ID in the MX-880 actually mean ports 7-12 in the MSC?)

Ok, with no responses yet I did some experimenting and found a work-around until I get any further info. As I thought might be the case, using a primary RF ID of 0x00 to 0x0F binds to emitters 1 to 6, while a different secondary RF ID of 0x00 to 0x0F binds to emitters 7 to 12. Then creating two separate receivers in the remote editor, flashers 1-6 of the primary ID map to 1-6 on the MSC, while flashers 1-6 of the secondary ID map to 7-12 on the MSC, respectively. Its a bit confusing, but it works.

Choose RF receiver ID of 10 or higher in the remote programming and ports 1-12 will be available. Set the MSC config to MSC ID=Master and Primary=the ID you set in the remote programming, Secondary should be blank. This will enable access to all 12 ports from 1 receiver ID.

tweeterguy -- The problem isn't the MSC (that works fine just like you described), its the MX-880 programming editor. In fact, when creating a receiver in 880 editor's 'RF Setup' a note even states "To assign MSC ports 7 to 12 you must set the RF RECIEVER ID between ID 10 through F1 in the MX-Editor Software. At that time all 12 ports will be available under the Flashers drop down list." The problem is that the 'Receiver ID' drop-down list only allows IDs 0 through F to be selected, and I can't figure out how to force it to one of the required values. Is there something I've missed?

Sorry...I read your post quickly and thought you had an mx-980. With the 880 you'll need to create a secondary RF ID to have access to ports 7-12 until the issue is resolved via live update. So for now what you have is the way it can be done.

I was afraid of that. (Sigh.) At least there's a way to get there from here. Thanks for the response!

Just to follow up on this problem. This morning there was an online update to the MX-880 editor software that addressed this problem. The receiver ID drop-down list now allows the range 00 through 1F to be selected, with ports 1-12 available if the ID is 10 through 1F. Nice job, URC!
