An MX 980 user I'm corrsponding with says that his software versions, as read from the Help -> About MX 980 Editor, is:
Editor Version 1.00.005 IRDB Version 1.86 Manager Version 1.0.2007.10221
Mine says: Editor Version 1.00.003 IRDB Version 1.82 Manager Version 1.0.2007.10221
I'm guessing that I'll need to get the Editor upgrades from my Authorized Dealer.
I assuming that the IRDB is imbedded in the editor and it's the IR Code data base for programming devices.
I don't know what the Managers Version is.
Can anyone shed light on the what these software packages are, what are the latest versions and how to get upgrades.
Thanks
Keith Lingenfelter

OTAHD answered some of this question in my other post. Running live update seems to update both the editor and the firmware in the MX 980. Running vista one must tell the program to "Run as Administrator" via properties.
However, At least one person has gotten a version 1.86 for the IRDB version. Any notions about what is going here.

Hmm...I'm on IRDB 1.85 and it claims it's up to date.
I might reinstall it and see what happens.

I wonder if you'll only get the latest IRDB if the main program requires an update?
I should note that I updated some other programs and they received IRDB v1.86.

This just keeps getting weirder and weirder. I just updated my MX-900 editor to 1.86 and my MX-980 editor to 1.87. In the meantime, the MX-980 editor on my other computer is still stuck at 1.85. Perhaps Dale can shed some light on this phenomenon.

As I mentioned earlier, my guess is that it only downloads the latest IRDB when the main program requires an update. So if the program version is still up-to-date, then it doesn't matter what the latest available IRDB version is because it isn't checked independently.
MSC Editor is still reading v1.83 here as well.

Hmm...OK, that does make sense.
Theoretically if I reinstalled then I'd get the latest version.

I've got the IRDB of 1.86 for my MX-980.
I guess maybe clicking the live update did it but it's weird. I click Liveupdate, then it says "Update Available", Software will be restarted. Then I click "OK" and nothing happens. I restart the software and come back and nothing got updated??
I'm running WinXP Pro SP3. This software is pretty unstable too. Crashed about 6 times while I was programing a remote over a 5 hours window. I finally got used to just saving after EVERY little thing I change so I didn't lose my config.
The rest of my stuff is all what the original poster had: Editor Version 1.00.005 IRDB Version 1.86 Manager Version 1.0.2007.10221
