Hi,

I have just received a Samsung BD-P2550 for Christmas and I am trying to program my MX-850 to operate it.

I have the latest software updates from URC and the code database does show the BD-P2500 (which uses the same remote as the 2550). I downloaded the codes but the player would not respond to the MX-850 at all. I am using RF with a base station and emitters, so the first thing I tried was moving the emitter around. I then tried removing the emitter entirely and using IR directly. None of this worked.

The Samsung remotoe works just fine, so I went ahead and learned the codes directly. The editor indicated that I got a good learn for all buttons. This did not work either.

The MX-850 works perfectly with all my other components, but on the off chance that there may be a problem with it I pulled out my retired MX-700 and loaded the codes into it. It did not work either.

A forum search turned up a bit about some problems with the codes for the BD-P1500, but nothing on the 2500/2550.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Jesse

I had exactly the same problem with the BD-P1500 that I received for Christmas!

I didn't try this yet. What I did instead was the following. I downloaded this file:

Then I used the Universal Browser to load it into the MXEditor software, and then to the MX-850. This worked for a lot of the codes.

A forum search turned up a bit about some problems with
the codes for the BD-P1500, but nothing on the 2500/2550.

Where'd you see that? I can't find any discussion of the BD-P1500, but I'd very much like to!

Here's some additional information that may provide clues to this puzzle.

I first taught all the commands from the original remote to the Sony RM-VL710 remote. But I was unable to do this reliably for the Radio Shack 15-2133. What finally worked was teaching the commands from the MX-850 to the RS 15-2133.

Hi Herman,

Thanks for the help. The stuff I found on the BD-P1500 is here: [Link: remotecentral.com]

It looks like most of the commands for the BD-P1400 will work for the BD-P1500. Your link to the BD-P1000 commands makes me wonder if maybe the BD-P1400 commands will work for my player. Seems like some of these players are using the same commands. I will give it a try tonight.

Thanks again.

Hi,

I have not tested all commands, but it appears that the BD-P1400 codes are working for my BD-P2550. How can I report the problems with the 2500/2550 codes to URC?

The entire IR database is a mess, if you ask me. It appears to have been patched up several times, with no cleaning up along the way.

I doubt the folks at URC are too concerned about it.

I had this very same problem. The BD-P2500 in the database is totally wrong, and when I tried learning in directly from the Samsung remote, most of the buttons did not work. The MXEditor said the learn was "good" but I found that 9 times out of 10 it didn't actually work. Eventually I got every button to learn in, but not by trusting the "good" status reported by the MXEditor. I would learn it in, then hit the "test" button in the MXEditor. Sometimes it would take 8 or 10 times before a learn that was reported as "good" actually worked. Just keep plugging away at it. All work fine for me now.

You should export that device to a file and post it here so we can all benefit from from your hard work. It's good karma!

I had to learn the whole samsung remote as well. Lucky for me each learn worked the first time, and this was about a month ago.

Normally we use panasonic BR players, but this client wanted the Netflix download feature of the Samsung. Last time we use samsung =)
