I purchased the MX-900 remote last year and had it installed and programmed by a professional. Unfortunately I cannot locate the person who did my installation. I just recently upgraded to a blu-ray (Sony BDP-S350) dvd player from a regular DVD player. I am not sure how to go about changing the functions on my remote to fit my new blu-ray. I downloaded the programming manual but I am not very tech oriented. Also, the person who programmed my remote did not send me the saved configuration. Do I need to create a whole new configuration for all my current functions (i.e. cable, receiver, tv)? Or can I just update my remote for the blu-ray functions without erasing the original macros which operate my tv, cable, receiver? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since you say you are not tech oriented, I'm going to give a general answer to your question without going into all of the tech details.

The programming in your remote can be uploaded to a Windows PC if you have the MX editor software and a USB cable to connect the remote to your PC. The software is available to end users on the URC website, provided you purchased the remote from an authorized dealer.

Once the programming is uploaded into the MX editor software on your PC, it's a relatively simple matter for an experienced person to make the changes to support your Blu-ray player. For a non-technical person, making the changes would be probably be difficult.

Probably the best alternative would be to locate a local custom installer who is a URC dealer, and contract with him to make the changes for your Blu-ray player.

You don't have any info in your remotecentral profile as to your physical location. If you list your physical location in your profile, or post a followup with your physical location, there might be an installer who frequents this board who may be able to help (for a fee).

Alternatively, if you can get the programming uploaded into the MX editor software, you might be able to email the file to an installer who is not in your local area who could make the changes.

I am an installer and authorized URC dealer located in Monterey CA - and I might be able to help. You can contact me at the email address in my profile if you would like to pursue the option of having me program the remote for you.
