I have an MX950 a few years old and the charging cradle has stopped charging. My Mx980 cradle works fine for the mx950. How can I get a new one? Also recently I've noticed the Mx950 after a button press displays some weird 4-5 digit codes for a few secs. Are these error codes?

In my experience the cradles don't just go bad, maybe a misaligned or dirty pins? Take a look at the connection pins on the cradle. Unplug the base. If dirty clean with electric contact cleaner and then take a small flat blade screw driver (tweaker / jewelers screw driver) and gently pry up the pins for better contact. At that point, make sure the base is plugged in and check for voltage across the pins. If after that and it still doesn't work contact URC service at 914-835-4484.

The contacts look clean and pristine. I'll try taking a jewelers screwdriver and bend the contacts to make sure there is good contact with the pins - maybe they just flattened out. They do look normally aligned. Also if I fiddle with the placement of the remote in the cradle the blue light turns to a flickering red - not sure if its charging though.

I messed with the pins now the red charging light comes on but only if you place the remote in the cradle by pushing down on it. Really anoying. I'll se if I can make it better. Anyone know what this code means MD GP01 MCL 02? It comes on the screen for a few seconds after I hit off. If I hit off a second time the codes double up.

MD-GP01
MD-GP01

Then a sec later

MCL-02

Check the contacts on the remote very closely, I've had 2 people bring in their remotes only to find out one of the kids dropped it and the case started to seperate a bit and the contacts at the bottom of the remote aren't sitting quite right. Snapped the case tightly and everything was fine.

Please send me the file (to the email address in my profile) and I'll look into the error codes you're seeing. The only other time I've seen an error code on a 950 was when there was a page jump defined, but the page was later deleted, somehow the page jump wasn't deleted and it generated an error code similar to yours.

If you find that you do end up needing a charger let me know. I have a spare one.

Ok Guys. charger is definatly bad. The remote case and pins are fine as it charges fine in the Mx980 charger. I ended opening up the charger and the pins look ok but there is some black soot on one of the board contacts which smells funny.

1ziggi1 That would be incredible if I could buy your extra charger. My email is dratifk at Gmail. As far as the error codes. I'll send you the file however I loaded the same file on a friends 950 and there is no error.

Well I bought the charger from 1ziggi1. Hopefully I'll have it soon. Thanks 1ziggi1
I fixed the Error code message by deleting the on/off commands and relearning them. Thank god it was not a hardware problem. Thanks everyone. Still tweaking the remote.

I had the same problem on my mx950 for the last few weeks after I updated the software and added a new blue ray player. I tried to change some buttons today and updated the software, after the download to the remote I stopped doing the codes. so I hope it was just somthing wrong with the last update.
