Can anyone confirm if the Onkyo DVD DV-SP406 has discrete power? I have done a forum search and cannot find any info on Onkyo DVD IR codes . I'm looking to switch to Onkyo from Denon for my entry level DVD players.

There is some conflicting evidence here.

There is no ON and STANDBY separate on the remote, as they have oftimes used in the past.

The Onkyo website does not yet have this model listed with IR codes.

However, EVERY SINGLE DVD in the existing IR code list had discrete power, including the 506.

I've never considered that a major liability with standard DVDs anyway - play, pause 4 sec, power is a reliable workaround. BLU_RAY players with long delays are not good on this workaround, however.

Tom, thanks for the Onkyo info. I looked all over the Onkyo website for IR codes and could not find any. Are the IR codes located in a dealer area?

Yes.

Any Onkyo or Integra DVD in the URC database will have discrete power. Try DPS5.5 Integra. I use that even when I do a rare Onkyo DVD install.

No Discrete codes for this unit. If you find one please post it.
