my MX-980 is on order, and I got the software from teh dealer in teh meantime so I can play with it. However, I cannot find any of the discrete codes for my components!!! specifically:

* Onkyo SC-PR886P pre/pro
* Denon BDCI3800 bluray player
* Denon DVD-3910 Universal player
* Pioneer Elite PRO-1130 Plasma display
* DirecTV HR20 DVR

can anyone point me in the right direction? is there a link in the software somewhere? Also, for newer components, such as the Onkyo 886 pre/pro, how do i go about getting the codes if not out yet?

thanks in advance guys.

The PRO-1130 is in the 980's IR Database.
All the others (or a similar model) should be as well but not the Denon BD player.
They call me the "Thread Killer". Just watch!

Both the DVD-3800BDCI and DVD-3910 are in the URC database. Look under DVD. And the Power On and Power Off commands are not the same commands.

If those don't work, you'll have to build the HEX for them from the data Denon provides:

The Onkyo PR-SC885 is in the database, so the codes are almost certainly identical (give or take a couple new commands). You can try the discrete power commands from RC: [Link: remotecentral.com]

The HR20 is also in the database. In any case, I sent you an HR20 configuration that has the discretes. You'd just need to import them.

Awesome info dsp81...thank you very much!!

I got the link and the other info you sent me. If you don't mind, would you send me the HR20 config? [email protected]

thanks again.

One final thing that is KILLING me, is that I cannot find a discrete code on the 886/885 that turns the EQ on/off (Audyssey)! it is a royal pain to go into the menu and have to disabled it that way when listening to music.

any help there would be great appreaciated as well!

HR20 is in the database if you have the current software. I've used it twice this week already.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

The Denon Blu-Ray 3800 is in the IR DB. It's codeset 329, model DVD-3800BDCI (RC-1090). If you don't see it, do a live update.

I looked thru my RS232 database for the 885 and there isn't a command for this, so I doubt there's an IR Command.

Looking at the menu structure, I didn't see a way to make a macro bullet proof. The main setup menu initially starts you at the top after power up, but subsequently it stays where you left it....... unless you recycle the power. (The sub menus do not behave like this. ) So you would have to stick to a very rigid procedure for macros to work......otherwise you'd get the macro out of sequence. Not sure if you could get creative enough with variables to really help, you'd need to talk to someone smarter than me.

Regards,
John
