I have a system almost setup, but I need a couple remote codes or hex codes. I've checked a few databases with no luck. However in the back of the planar manual it lists IR Codes (eg Aspect ratio LetterBox = 0xA0, 16x9 = 0x9E) and I was wondering if/how I could convert these into HEX codes? I'm assuming I'll need a bit more info to go with those, but I'm not familiar with HEX.. I just know that the MX-3000 can take them.

We have a Panamorph system working with the projector and it would be great to be able to switch to letterbox and have the lens come out at the same time and not toggle through the different aspect ratio's.

I dig get a response from planar tech support and they gave me the following. Just not sure how to apply them.

4:3 61 73 70 2E 34 2E 33
Letterbox 61 73 70 2E 6C 65 74 74

My understanding of IR is not perfect, but try this and see if it works.

According to page 79 of the manual (link), your projecter uses the NEC protocol. The custom code is 0x06F9, or Device 6 (take the first two digits after the x and convert to decimal - I believe).

Pages 69-70 cover the Functions you want:
16:9 - 0x9E (converted to decimal, Function 158)
4:3 - 0x9F (Function 159)
Letterbox - 0xA0 (Function 160)
4:3 Narrow - 0xA1 (Function 161)

Using makehex (link) and nec1.irp with Device 6, Functions 158 through 161, this is what I get. Give these a try and let me know if they work.

dsp81,

You the man! It worked perfectly. Not only that, but I finally get how makehex works and was able to get additional codes.

Thanks so much and if you're ever in Menlo Park or Palo Alto Calif, look me up and I'll buy you a round of beers or two or three. ;D

Thanks again.

Peetah
