I have a Barco projector that's RS232 protocal uses a string of hex numbers for each command. I've used these strings in other control software without any problems.

With the MSC 400 editor when I try to add them to the projector's function table, they are not excepted. By not excepting I mean that after I type in the data and hit save, the string disappears and the Data box and Func Data line are blank.

THe Pwr ON string is 02 00 01 51 0A 00 00 01 5D. Normally I can type the string as 020001510A0000015D and it works. The MSC Editor doesn't seem to like this.

Anyone know of any HEX string limitations and/or special requirements with the MSC-400?

Thanks,
John

Make sure you are in the "Connected Devices" area, under your Barco, and double click on the Funcs item. From there you can choose HEX at the top, enter in a name and a coma seperated hex list. As you click on each item in the bottom section, you can edit the hex up in the middle. Save each one as you do it (probebly where you went wrong - gee it could have asked :-) ). Just make sure to uncheck the add carriage return, and then go back later after you save and check it, save, and uncheck it. There was / is a bug where it still sends it unless you do that (BTDT).

You're the Man! I was not putting a comma between each hex value. Once I did that, it saved the string in the Func Data table. I won't be able to try it out for another couple of days....waiting for my RS232 port cables.

The fact that the hex list needs to be comma separated....is that written somewhere? I have the MSC400 Tutorial guide R2. Is there anything else available?

Thanks again,
John

Not sure about the tutorial but it was mentioned in training so that should solve your problems.

Nice! Just curious...Barco PJ, you're doing a commercial AV install I assume. Details?

LOL. No the 200 pound behemoth Barco 1209s is hanging downstairs in my HT. Hanging it was an adventure. I've had it for about 5-6 years. I use a Lumagen ProHDP scaler and Vutec 9' screen with a Carada masking system. All automated with URC products. :) Throws a great picture. When it dies I'll probably move to different projector technology. HDCP is a pain to deal with when your still in the analog world.

Regards,
John

I should add Barco projectors do not behave well via RF and URC's narrow band remotes. Barco IR codes are very high frequency and I was unable to get any newer URC Remote to send usable codes via RF. Older wide band remotes work fine. My solution was the MSC-400.
