Hi, I am new to universal remote control. I have tried programming the MX 810 with a very puzzling outcome - I have Vista Premium (Not the 64 ver). The software installs correctly (I presume!) I am able to program the remote control on my PC. When I download it to the remote it shows that 100% was transmitted. After the 1st transfer the screen looks like it has shifted sideways - middle half of the screen is blank, left half of the screen is now on the right edge and the right half is on the left edge! After that when I restart the remote - the whole screen appears squished to the middle 1/5th of the screen. I am unable to read anything. I have tried resetting the remote to factory defaults with tech support help but with no success - only the middle 1/5th of the screen is active. It is not as if only the middle 1/5th of the screen is showing anything - the whole screen is squished to the middle 1/5th. Then the only thing visible is rows of white dots floating accross. Tried resetting with the button on the back also. Tried taking the battery and resetting also with no success. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Rajesh

You need a new remote. Return to place of purchase.

Go to Best Buy, ask for a URC R50 (IR only), and be content with the next 4 (8) years...

This has happened with 2 remotes! This is my 3rd one now.Tech support is blaming it on my computer. Everything is working fine on the computer and I have been able to program a Harmony One on the same computer. Does disabling the Firewall and the antivirus software have anything to do with it? I would like to keep the MX 810 since I can customize the buttons better and put new icons.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Rajesh

I don't know how programming your remote would cause that but I tend to think tech support is probably right. That's a very odd problem that i haven't seen posted before and you've managed to do it 3x? Have you considered loading XP on a machine? and trying that?

Is it possible to install the MX editor on a different computer? Then download the demo to the remote and see if the problem reoccurs. If this has happened to three different remotes it must be the pc that you are using.

I use Windows Vista and have programmed many MX-810s. The only problem that I have is keeping the usb synced to the remote.

Hi,

Thanks for all your suggestions. Did restore my computer to about 6wks old Ghost image and tried programming my 4th MX 810 - succesful in transmitting the setup file :) So it must have been something in my computer - hardware is the same, so it must be the software difference between the 6 week ghost image and the changes made since then. The only new software added to my computer are Photoshop CS4, Lightroom 2 and Google Desktop. Anyone had any trouble programming after installing any of these programs?

Thanks
Rajesh
