Is there any way to set up buttons on an MX-980 (just for the sake of creating macros) without putting them on a button? I want to have a device called "My Macros" with a dozen or so buttons that will have macros so I can link my macros on the buttons throughout the device to them.

(I like to keep my Macros all in one place).

Thanks
Vincent

My question is, is it possible to have more than 8 buttons on one page? I need to have more like 15-20 for the amount of macros I have.

put your macros on the different pages, if you just want them all on one page you would have to use the hard buttons to store and that would be a nightmare to follow what you did

why don't you elaborate on what you are tring to do and maybe we can help a little more

Pretty basic really. Whenever I create an MX3000 or a TSU9600 I keep all the macros for all the devices on one page. I link to them on the Pronto and alias to them on the URC line.

For example:

Watch Cable Macro
Watch DVD Macro
Watch Bluray Macro
Listen to CD Macro
Listen to Tuner Macro
System Off Macro
etc......

I keep about 20 of them on one page of the MX3000 for example. Then , the icon on the home page is linked to the appropriate macro. It's easy since you can put many, many buttons on the URC or Pronto remotes . BUT, the MX-980 only allows you to store 8 buttons on a page, so I guess there is no way to set up all my macros on one page.

The short answer is no, you can't create more than 8 buttons per page.

Best regards,
Dale

Thanks Dale. Not a problem.

You could have 8 for normal press and 8 more for press and hold; total of 16.

Good point, Tom, but I've never attempted to alias the "press and hold" side of a button. I'm not certain that it's possible.

Personally I'd do this with variables instead of with press and hold. It does complicate the programming a bit, though.

Best regards,
Dale

I use a playstation 3 for gaming and watch blu-rays. My watch blu-ray side button is used for a "press" and a "press and hold >= 1 sec"
when pressed it does all the macro and jump to blu-ray page 1 and if held it takes me to my ps3 page 1. (I have the same device twice with different pages)

if you place the button in variable mode.. you are able to alias to a specific variable ie....
watch tv is on button A variable 1
watch cable is on button A variable 0

you are able to alias directly to the 0 or to the 1 effectively doubling the amount of activitey macros per screen page.

now you dont need to actually implement the variables trigggers.. as you dont need them.. all you need them is to store more macros then the pages allow buttons... this way if your not fully comfortable using and maintaining the variables it wont complicate the programming
