I have a MX-700 and I was looking at some of the other higher number MX remotes like the 850 which has RF. Can I use the mxf file I have used for the 700 or am I starting from scratch? I have so many learned codes that starting from scratch is not something I care to do.

thanks...

It's the same program for the mx700 and 850. Buy the mx850, open your mx editor that you've been using for the 700 and download your existing file to the 850. Do a live update if you have the ability to do so. You configure RF via ALT-P-R or fifth icon from the right or Program:RF Control.

He can't open the MX editor he's been using and configure RF because the 700 editor doesn't have the RF setup section.

I think what tweeterguy might mean is install the 850 editor and open the MXF file you've been using in the 850 editor. Then set up the RF and download to the remote.

Yes that is what I meant...made sense in my head but didn't translate to my fingers...thanks for the clarification.

jongig...you can get the mx-editor for the 850 via this link:

[Link: universalremote.com]

note it does not have full live update capabilities but if you are set with your current programming that shouldn't be an issue.

It would also be good to familiarize yourself with the 2 sticky threads at the top of this forum....actually just read post 1 on each and so as to not have to read through all the rants :-)
