I am not at home until next week to even try, but I would really appreciate if someone could offer me there opinion and maybe if I would be better off with a harmony one based on the following issues people are reporting. 1.My first concern is I read a review on avsforum where the person said the IR is not strong, this is the first issue I heard like this. He said its not always responsive. My home theater set up is in this picture if someone could quickly look. Only thing that changed is there is a Panasonic 65PZ750U plasma instead of a projector. All my equipment is on the one side behind the glass. I currently have no issues with the glass and all my normal IR remotes have no trouble getting through. Its all on one side so remote would always be pointed and within 12 feet of the equipment. Now I also read the one user review from the MX-810 here at remote central and he brought up several issues I was wondering if anyone could adress. "1. Power management options do not always correspond with the discrete On/Off commands that are in the remote itself. Even though these commands are listed on the various pages, the hard On/Off buttons do not always have those same commands which renders the Power Management software virtually useless. Instead, installer is forced to switch all of these options to "Left Alone" and add the commands later in the macro setup. 2. Once the macro commands were chosen I found no ability to change the order (via either drag/drop or other method) which requires the installer to redo entire sequences if they do not work instead of a simple modification. 3. Found no pause option between macros which makes it virtually impossible to automate input changes when the system turns on. 4. Found no "jump" capabilities which causes user to manually navigate screens that installer could have automated. Especially frustrating when a person selects "Watch TV" and you can not specify which screen you prefer to appear (This is compounded by the issue in #5 below) 5. Major problem with the Activities and Devices screens... although you can delete screens and change layouts under the actual device, those changes are not reflected when using the activities buttons. The user is forced to select "Watch DVD" and then go to devices and select the actual component so he can have only his necessary buttons appear. 6. Found no punch through options for volume, channels, etc... causing installer to manually program volume commands under each device." From reading this my first concerns are his problem with macro and switching inputs. I use a matrix hdmi switch so I need to make sure macros work with this remote switching inputs. He seems to think because there is no delay option inputs wont always switch. Also I find it odd regarding his number 4, you have no ability to setup the last page for activities. So If I have watch tv, I could not have the activity land on the satellite dish controls, instead of the my tv controls? And also regarding number 5 is he saying if you alter a lay out of buttons those changes are not affected in the activity menu? Lastly I only have one receiver controlling everything, Im not sure what he means by punchthru? Wont or cant the hardbuttons on the remote for volume control my receiver? Thats all I would need for all my equipment. If anyone can help me with these issues it would be greatly appreciated. Depending on what I find out I might not even open it and just send it back, so if anyone can give me more insight into this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, For question number 2,3,6, have a look in the Tune up section of the wizard.
After selecting Tune up, select Solve automated activity problems.
You will then find ;
Modify timing, order or add a step.
Edit volume and mute for activity.
I hope this help you for question number 2,3,6.

Thanks the only real concern I have left is the my main number 1.
As for the reviewers complaints on this website if anyone can help me with the following yet.
Number 4, I have been reading reviews of other users since I posted this, he states you cant set which page it goes to when using an activity, nobody else i have read seemed to have that problem????? Can anyone comment
And lastly his number 5 when the reviewer I think is saying if you change the layout of something, its not reflected in the activity page or cant be used in the activity page? Im not sure what exactly he means by number 5 other then maybe he changed the layout of the device and in the activity those changes are not in there.
After those questions get answered I think I will be comfortable opening and using my mx-810, i already feel better about it.

All I can say is... the reviewer doesn't know how to program the MX-810. It's not designed to be consumer-friendly. It's designed to be installer-friendly. That doesn't mean a consumer can't program it, but it does mean the job was intended to be handled by an installer who has access to our online and live training sessions.
I won't claim that the MX-810 is a perfect product with no flaws. However, more than 90% of the complaints I've seen about it are due to two things: 1) The programmer has not had any training or much experience with ProWizard, and they assume that it's a consumer-level wizard, which it's not; and 2) The programmer assumes that ProWizard is somehow just a different user interface on top of 100% of the capabilities of MX-Editor, and they're trying to get ProWizard to program what they want it to do, instead of what it's programmed to create. ProWizard is actually capable of many things that are either very difficult or impossible on MX-Editor based remotes, but it fits those capabilities into a defined structure. While it's possible to force ProWizard to work outside of that structure, the results are always time consuming and, for the untrained, usually very frustrating.
Best regards, Dale

Thanks.
Im still wondering about those few questions I had. I will admitt the review did scare me I only used a pronto before, but I found that just to customizable for me.
IF anyone can help me with those last few concerns? I will put my worries away and open it when i get home.
Mainly 4 and 5. I know theres no jump capability, but I was pretty sure you could have the appropriate screen appear when you click on an activity?

Yes you can. It will 'jump' to page 1 of the device after the activity macro executes.
I don't see the problem.
Is it as customizable as the other mx editor series? No, but it's not intended to be. Some people still don't "get" this streamlined version. As Dale eluded to, the problem usually comes from the person not being trained properly or seeking the proper training in the first place. This, like the other MX remotes was not intended to be programmed by a consumer. The name of the software is even titled ProWizard not ConsumerWizard. IMO if you can't figure out the basics like setting up an activity macro you should hire someone who can. Your remote will function more reliably and you'll be much happier with your purchase.

Well I got my MX-810 Mostly up and running, took me about 5 hours, I still dont have the 360 working and its driving me nuts! But I made a seperate thread for it.
I love the look of the remote, and had no problems with the software at all. So if a midlevel user like me can use it, it should not be hard to do what you want.
Im glad I went with the mx-810, only things I like about the harmony better yet is the thinner design, and the screen is touch screen, I wish the mx-810 was also touchscreen.
My only other question left yet if someone could please answer. I have an activity setup with Bell 9200, or dish 942 its the HD DVR.
its always on technically theres a screen saver, but in my activity, I have turn 9200 on. Now is that on for if the machine is completely off state? Because nothing happens in the activity to it. Typically if you hit on or power the screen saver will go away but in that activity nothing happens, even though it says in the activity it will turn on power for the 9200.
Anyone help me out please?

OK so it appears i was right the on code during setup is for when the dvr is completely off, which it never should be.
Is there anyway I can specify the power on button I want to use in the activity. When the activity for it setup, it set it up like the dvr was completely off. But i never have it completely off, its always on 24/7, so I want to specify which power command i use. to exit the screen saver and take you to your satellite programming.
THe power code the wizard set up used in the activity is the power button under a hatch, on the machine itself to turn the thing off and on completely only to be used in rare occasions.
I dont even know how mx-810 got that from the database the remotes are not able to turn the dvr off and on completely.
Can anyone help? Im so close to having everything running, i just want it to execute the power on the remote during the activity, not the power button onn the machine which turns everyone on and off completely.

Just a follow up, even though the 360 still does not work, I want to review this remote.
Software gets a 9/10
Remote Gets 9/10
Software is customizable enough and if you do enough searching and messing around you can find solutions. Everything was working besides my 360 in 4-5 hours.
Remote is great, lcd looks great, it only looses 1 mark because i like the thinner egronomic design of the harmony one, and the touchscreen. The screen and backlight of the mx-810 however is better more vibrant, better graphics, and more customizable icons.
Also the person who complained about its IR range is crazy, im not even pointing at things and it still works, as far as im concerned i dont even need rf.
If I can get my 360 working, Im done! But no luck yet.
I also want to point out I have no trouble moving around the menus like one person complained about, its very easy and second nature.
I recomend this over the harmony one, if you would like to customize things, like icons and have a better graphic layout. No touchscreen, but the lcd is better, and I appreciate the icon customization and such.

I copied those codes into the browser hex area, dragged them onto a button. Still dont have power.
I wonder if its got something to do with if I shutdown the system with the controller or the front pannel?
Does anyone know where the IR eye is on the 360?
Im not going to lie this is the first remote i actually programmed. Besides a pronto a few years ago which I got rid of pretty quick. So Im kind of new to this yet.
