wrapping up some bench testing and noticed something strange. I've got rs232 volume +/- repeating working no problem. But I stumbled upon something strange last night. When I'm repeating vol+, for example, by holding the button down and then I immediately move my thumb over to the vol- button and hold it down, the system continues to repeat the vol+ command and the volume goes through the roof until i release the vol- button. And this is happening across multiple remotes and multiple zones of the same amp. When I pause for a brief second between the vol+ hold and the vol- hold, no problems. And the same happens in reverse as well.....vol- to vol+. I guess there are two things here that could be causing this....the msc400 is not switching the commands when I quickly switch buttons OR the amp itself (Nuvo) is not recognizing the switch.

Anyone else seen this?

I have a similar problem with my MX-980 (through IR, the MSC-400 is not fully programmed yet). Unfortunatly I loaned out my Slink-e so investigation will have to wait. However, I have seen several accounts on unusual behavior when the "repeat" is checked (though volume is probably one case where it would be very much desired). Just a data point. Hopefully someone else will respond to you...

Depending on the speed (baud rate) of the device, there will be a lag time after a new state is achieved (new volume level for example), both for the device to get ready to listen for a new command, and sometimes the devices "report" the new status. This can all take time. As to IR controlled devices doing this, it can even happen with the factory remotes when the actual codes are very close (as in vol -/+). If you press fast enough, the IR "receiver" can miss part of the burst, and simply keep repeating. The IR burst has several items in it; Frequency, Brand ID, # of repeats needed for a proper commend, unit/ and or device ID, and finally command. Because of error correction, if any one of these is missed but found again quickly enough, it "errors" on the side that you were repeating a press, until in knows for sure otherwise, such as a release and new press.
