This is my first post, been wonging the site for some time to pick up much needed info from all the guras at this site, thanks all. My questions reguarding my home system. I decided on the MX-980 as soon as it was released (got the first two which came into my distributor after 3 month back order). I also decided on the msc-400 in order to have complete control over my 2 zone system (rf a must). Programming my mx-980s for ir was first project and I have integrated all components (eliminated 14 remotes) with only some issues in the mx980. This is my first urc remote and without a doubt state of the art. My questions lie in the rf setup. I have created my msc-400 file (not being able to import the devices from mx980 a hassle but I created and setup the triggers). I need to keep the system up and running during converion to rf. I think I am ready to install msc-400. Two issues come to mind. I will need to learn some commands into the msc-400 since I can not import those devices (hdmi and component 4 in 1 out switches) they work now with mx980 but I have read learning commands not too easy in msc-400 compared to mx980. The other question concerns rs232 compared to ir out on my Integra DTR-8.8 receiver. I have both outputs and have discrete codes in the mx980 even though the receiver is a new model. The msc400 serial database does not have rs232 codes. Should I just use the IR out and forget about rs232.
Sorry for the rambling post, will try to do better.

1. Since the MSC-400 at the moment cannot import MX-980 files; you can simply create the devices into the MSC-400 directly.
2. If you have RS232 port on the receiver - USE IT; it makes controlling your receiver more bullet proof and it just looks nicer. If the RS232 codes are not in the databse you can obtain them from the manufactures website and enter them yourselves in the MSC-400

Have you tried using codes from a different model? I have never used Integra but most other manufactures use the same codes for different models.
If you can use the 232, use it. It will make your life alot less complicated.
