I just started exploring this option today. So I need to make a DB-9 to Ex-Link cable and then I use what, Hyper-terminal, to talk to the TV? I just type "$08,$22,$01,$00,$01,$00,$d4" in hyper-terminal to turn up the volume?
Where did you find those codes?
