I figured out half my problem. I needed to push Music,Muting,Power at the same time "on the receiver"! Got it. Now my set top box remote can work the Sony receiver (which is in AV1 mode).
However, now my Sony remote can't control the receiver. I assume it's still in AV2 mode. How do I now get it into AV1 mode???
I don't know if your Sony AV remote is the same as mine, but on mine I have a recessed button that says USE Mode, pressing it will flash either 1 flash or 2 flashes. 1 flash = AVi 2 flashes = AV2. Also on my remote the Video 1 has AV1 under it and Video 2 has AV2 under it, to change it while holding down the USE MODE button press either the AV1 or AV2 button to change it's mode.
