I work for a major Chinese telecoms manufacturer, and will tell you this from experience.
1: Manuals need to be clear and precise. No chinglish
2: Product needs to be neatly package
3: There are many cheap learning remotes out there, you need to be able to offer something that your oposition doesnt.

IF you want to break in to the market, tell us what you want to do and im sure that you will get a responce with what the everyday consumer wants.
If you said you wanted to combine all the options of a Pronto, JP1, Sony, RTI etc then i would think youron a winner.
