color lcd, touch screen that can control the following in my living room:

TV
DVD
stereo/speakers
lights
central air conditioning
etc.

And if possible, to control similar electronics in 2 additional bedrooms. If the remote can be organized via the different rooms, with all the applications from a room together in a folder, that would be perfect.

Looking to spend up to $1,000.

Remotes that look appealing are MX 3000 and Pronto.

1st question - which remote should I get that will match my specifications ?

2nd question - is this really difficult to program (I don't have any experience) or should I hire a professional ? And if so, how do I find a programmer in NYC that will do an excellent job and how much would it cost ?
