I am the same story as most it seems. Upgrading system, looking for remote, don't know what to buy.

Here are the basics

System consists of

Panasonic 50px600u
yamaha Rx-v2200
Oppo 971
Comcast Cable HD-DVD (don't have yet so dont know model)
Tivo series 2
Old JVC VHS (just for kids)
Audiosource amp (see below)

Need RF capablies as some component behind door
Not a big fan of touchscreens (hardbuttons OK with me)
Would like it to be programmable so I can expand
Looking to stay around $400. If there is a great remote for $250 that meets my need I'll buy that. Not looking to keep up with the Jones'.....

Now here is the interesting one. Would like to be able to retrofit an older AudioSource amp that is on the second zone of the Yamaha reciever. It does not have remote control capabilities. Old fashion on/off pushbutton switch. Only need power on/off since it powers outdoor speakers and they are on seperate volume control. Was thinking of using an x10 outlet to power on off but do not know if any remote can do RF->IR->x10 command. Also don't want to connect to the switched outlet on Yamaha as I don't want the radio blasting in the backyard if someone is watching a DVD.

I have been going back and forth between the Harmony 890 or the Complete Control units (850/900). Trying to figure out key difference in function between 850/900 as well. Looks like it is just a new style.

I am open to any recommendations on the remote and suggestions on the amp question.

Thanks
