I have been keeping an eye on the ipronto for some time now. Personally, I wouldn't get one for 2 reasons. First, there seems to be ongoing problems with the unit. As you stated, reading threads of current owners makes one think twice. Second, while I like the idea of a customizable universal remote & web surfing on the unit, but some of the newer products on the market offer much more functionality for the same price or less.
Just my opinion, and I understand that everyone looks for a product that fits their specific needs. I would sacrifice some remote customization capability for better web / PC /TV integration.
