Some access points handle mixed mode better than others. I recently upgraded my laptop's MiniPCI card to 802.11g and, tomorrow, I'm getting in a new 802.11g AP to replace the old 802.11b one. The new AP is reputed to work pretty well in mixed mode (more than 11mbit), so I'll try to do some benchmarks on the "g" computer while the "b" iPronto is connected.
