There sure have been a lot of negative reviews floating around about this movie. I even read a sarcastic, and very lengthy review on the Web yesterday; considering how much the guy spit on the movie, he seemed to go on for an awfully long time. In fact, I get the feeling he is under 30 and has no emotions about the war at all. He even flamed President Roosevelt for getting up out of his wheelchair to make a point to the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Well, I went to see it last night. Pearl Harbor is an EXCELLENT Hollywood Movie. In the best tradition of war movies. Action, characters, lots of stars, good love story, emotion, pathos, suspense, etc. In fact, the only thing I didn't like was the Political Correctness: referring to those "Jap bastards" instead of something more realistic like "yellow bastards", the way the old war movies did. (Note that I am not attempting to be racist: if it was a movie about slavery, you can call me a "whitey" or a "honkey" or whatever derogatory term you can think of... in the context of the movie.)

The battle scenes are amazing, truly amazing. And yet they don't appear to be anything but realistic, so you don't sit there going "wow, great FX".

The acting is the best from everyone, and there is no sappy loveline, and there are no hokey "proud to be an American" lines.

You should go and enjoy this movie. ... MovieMike
