Thanks for the info Daniel. Just recently picked up a Panasonic AG-DVC30 w/XLR breakout box and shotgun mic myself.

For me it was a no-brainer to go with the DVC30, since I don't plan on shooting any HD in the forseeable future (also the fact that anything over $2200.00 was out of my price range and the "financial unit" would have had my head on a plate!).

I've owned a consumer Panny cam which has never failed me plus gave me great video, and uses identical batteries to the DVC30.

I really wanted a VX-2100, but it was JUST out of my price range. I'm still savoring the VX-2100 as a future second cam, but I need to find a creative way to come up with (read - HIDE from the "financial unit"!) the money.
