Being British is about driving
in a German car to an Irish pub for a Belgian
beer, and then travelling home, grabbing an Indian
curry or a Turkish kebab on the way, to sit on
Swedish furniture and watch American shows on
a Japanese TV.
And the most British thing of all?
Suspicion of anything foreign.
Being Aussie is about driving a Holden car (owned by a US corporation), drinking a local brew (owned by a UK giant) in a local pub (part of a Japanese financed chain), enjoying a meat pie (owned by a Kiwi crowd), waving the national flag (made in China) whilst enjoying the sunset on the veranda of your home (built by a Malaysian conglomerate and mortgaged to a Dutch organisation)
And the most Aussie thing of all?
Pleased that we are so true blue and independent of the rest of the world.
