Just got my SL-9000 mail order today. Came new in the factory box from Dynadirect. Everything was going smoothly untill I tried to program it for my Sony VCR.

Three of the codes would do little more than power on/off. None of the transport functions worked. I then tried to have it learn the transport functions. Everthing appeared normal during the learning process but it still failed operate the learned functions. Tried fresh batteries, different positions, etc.

Then I tried to map it onto another device button (CBL) & none of the program codes worked at all, not even power on/off. Should'nt a specfic device code work the same on any device button, i.e. vcr codes programmed onto the CBL button?

Finally I tried teaching it on the CBL device button and it worked fine! All transport functions were learned & operated the VCR.

My TV (sony trinitron XBR) & Yamaha RV1105 reciever worked fine on their respective device buttons.

I think the unit may be defecticve. Has anyone had similiar problems with a specific device button failing to learn or accept pre-programed codes?
