I haven't tried the SL-9000 with a Kenwood 1080VR, but I have attempted to learn the input function from this receiver to other programmable remotes with no success. The input selection process on this reciver is not direct. It scrolls through the inputs as you push the button. When I've tried to learn this on other remotes it will make the first input change, but will not continue after that. I know that's not much help, but maybe someone else has had success with this.
