Sorry guys I am misunderstanding things here.

Johnsfine it seems to me that you know what I am trying to do. I tried your suggestion but I didnt seem to work.

I will try to reword what I am working for just to be sure we are on the same page.

I have a dish 510 receiver on remote address 1
I have a dish 942 receiver on remote address 7

I have a mx-850. When I program the mx-850 from the IR database for the 942 receiver, it is on remote address channel 1. So unless I switch the receiver to address1 it doesn't work.

I could learn commands from the original 942 remote (which is on address 7) but then I lose the discrete on/off data that comes in the IR database.
