I also have the same system. Follow edmund's advise. However, that setup will only allow your remote to change volume and your remote must be changed to AV1 in order to control your Yamaha volume. If you turn off your receiver you will have to start over so just leave your receiver on. I have the new HR23-700 from Directv.
