Hmm, that's a good question.
But the answer is from when you stop pressing buttons. I enabled the backlight with the button. I have a 25 second timeout. By pressing keys, I got it to say on for 60 seconds. After I stopped using the LCD it promptly timed out after 25 seconds. Physical buttons (channel/volume/right/left) don't affect the LCD/backlight timeout, as they have their own indipendant timer.
