Likely a capacitor failure. It’s hard to know if any other components were damaged.

As you remove the amplifier, a slow constant pressure results in the least enclosure damage. I’d be tempted to attach a significant weight to a corner of the plate, invert, and check back in a couple days. You might also be able to work through the woofer mount or an acoustic port.
