We have been purchasing, refurbishing and selling MX-880 Remotes for years. We actually prefer them to a lot of newer remotes as they have hard buttons without carbon pads (That wear out). They have sealed metal pads that last a lot longer, almost indefinately. The coating on the backs also can get very sticky and needs to be replaced, that is a very time-consuming task that a lot of folks cannot be bothered with. They are also one of the easiest remotes to program.

MX-890s have a similar construction but do not feel as nice in the hand and have an inferior less reliable display.

I would buy a used one that has a serial number post 009xxxxx. 0011xxxxx and 0012xxxxx were the last serials made. Earlier ones tend to be beaten up. Do not touch any that are Pre-008xxxx as they have different electronics, you can tell these ones by the Reset Button accessible from the battery compartment. Batteries will have 14xx to 16xx date codes if they have originals. Although good clean ones are Very hard to find and tend to fetch a premium. Still worth it IOHO.
