I have known some guys that when they were in your position downsized and just kept the clients that they wanted to work with and did the jobs that they wanted.
Just cherry pick the good jobs and let others go after the jobs that you don't want.
You are right is that family is everything. The kids grow up before you know it and that time is lost for you forever.
