I wanted to start a new thread for those of you who rely only on terrestrial broadcasting for receiving television programs in the Ontario and Western New York region. There will be so much change coming in 2015.

First, regarding the CBC, as you know there will be changes to its news department as a result of cutbacks, (1 500) layoffs and restructuring.  Beginning in September (1) expect a new graphic and music package.  Will the CBC be able to afford chairs for their news readers.  CBC Calgary is the only CBC news program with a sitting anchor.  (2) CBC supper hour newscasts will be reduced by either 30 or 60 minutes.  Shows in Vancouver, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, Charlottetown, St. John’s and the North will be trimmed to 60 minutes; programs in Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Windsor, Montreal and Fredericton will be cut to 30 minutes.  CBC Toronto news will air 6-7 p.m., forcing Coronation Street to a new timeslot.  (3)  The CBC Morning News will no longer be available over the air in major markets but will remain exclusively on CBC News Network.  The local CBC Radio One Morning show will be televised in its place 6-7 a.m.  (4)  Local hourly news updates are planned on the main CBC network.
