[Link: fiber.google.com]Hopefully it's highly successful in the KC area so they start pushing into other regions. Perhaps just the threat of competition from Google may light a fire under the collective butts of current provider monopolies.
It won't change anything. Cable as phone companies will contact lawyers and politicians to try and stop it while google gobbles up market share. Monopoly corporations haven't had to compete in a very long time. DirecTV taught them that we don't need their wires. Once google fiber shows up their days are numbered.
