The system had the serial adapter from the original integrator on the project and I guess I should ask the client if it ever worked when I head back out to the house later today.

Thanks guys for all of the ideas and I will look into each of them. I would have tried hyperterminal yesterday but someone stole my USB to serial adaptor!
