I have the same remote lockup issues as well in the field. In my own personal system, I have it about once a week also.
I've trained my customer to hold the top power button down for 5-6 seconds until it hard power cycles the remote and everything seems to be fine. I tell them it basically a little Microsoft computer (which it is) and just like their own computers, need to be reset once in a while.
I wish there was a known fix or something we are all doing that is causing this.
